What is the difference between a deluge and a preaction valve?

In a deluge system the sprinklers are open and the valve floods the whole zone when the detection system trips. In a preaction system the pipes are normally dry and water enters the pipe on a detection signal; the sprinkler must still operate on its own.

OS&Y or NRS gate valve?

An OS&Y valve has a rising stem, so its open or closed position is visible from a distance. An NRS (non-rising stem) valve has a stem that does not rise and is commonly used on underground lines.

Do fire valves need UL/FM approval?

Most project specifications for sprinkler and hydrant systems require UL/FM listed valves. Send us your requirement and we will suggest suitable listed models.
